It's Friday, everyone!
Today, please try to get onto Edsby. There is a poll there that I would like you to answer - some of you already have. Anything you see posted to Edsby today is just me testing things out - no need to complete any of it.
To log on, go to pembinatrails.edsby.com, then click on sign in with Microsoft and enter your school login information.
Some activities that you could do today include:
1) continue reading your social studies (or a different) novel
2) physical activity
3) reading comprehension about Nkosi Johnson (if you didn't already do it)
4) Knowledgehook mission - Fractions Review
5) math - practice translations and reflections (2 pages)
6) Communicating Skills - maybe exercise 19
7) science research
Thursday, March 26
Good morning everyone!
I hope things are going well for you. Being at home for a long time can be hard, so make sure you are getting some physical activity, some relaxation time, and some social (from a distance) time.
It looks like about half of our class has at least started the Knowledgehook missions. If you have a hard time with a question, click on the hint button and try some other questions like it. I'm not sure why Knowledgehook has a transfomational geometry mission for you - I didn't assign it, yet some of you are completing it. Please don't worry about that one.
Also, I'd like it if each of you could log in to your [email protected] account and send me, [email protected] an email. Just say, "Hi Mr. Wiebe." I want to make sure that your email is working - it will be important for using Edsby after Spring Break.
Here are a few things you can work on today (not in order):
1) read your social studies novel & complete your reading log
2) reading comprehension about Nkosi Johnson
3) physical activity of some kind
4) Knowledgehook kick-off mission (if you didn't do it yet) - class code: gum8724
5) math - Transformations of a Coordinate Grid (2 pages)
6) communicating skills - maybe Exercise 17
7) science research
Please remember to email me from your [email protected] email today. I miss you all.
- Mr. Wiebe
Wednesday, March 25
*UPDATE - check the math resources. I've started a new activity (mission) in Knowledgehook. Please register (class code: gum8724) and complete the mission as soon as you can.
Wednesday, March 25
Hi everyone,
Here are a few things that you may want to look at today:
1) math - translations, rotations, reflections (2 pages)
2) keep reading your social studies novel, jot down questions, complete reading log
3) do some more research for your science project. Remember that the animal must be VU, EN, or CR.
4) continue working on communicating skills, maybe Exercises 11 & 12 today.
5) check out the Facebook live event from the zoo @ 1:00.
Remember to email me with any questions. I will also be at school today so you can phone me if that works better for you. I hope you're all doing well and still finding ways to be entertained and spend time together as a family.
Tuesday, March 24
Good morning grade sixes,
Today I will upload some answers to math pages from your booklet and to some of the language arts activities. I will try to upload some math answers every day so that you can check the pages you are completing. The same goes for the communicating skills booklet. I will also post the answers for the reading comprehension activity for The Big Five of the Safari.
I have gotten emails from some of you and I appreciate that. Please, if you have a question, email me or phone the school and leave me a message. I get those messages in my email inbox and sometimes it is easier for you to explain a question by talking rather than by typing.
Today, hopefully you'll
1) complete the math pages called Showing Route and Ordered Pairs.
2) complete a page in the communicating skills booklet
3) read (your social studies book) and complete a reading log entry
4) work on your science project (maybe select an animal and begin finding info)
If you are looking for some interactive math activities online, try these.
Monday, March 23
Hi everyone,
I have now uploaded a Word document for the science project so there is no need to print it. Just save it to your device and type as you find information.
For math, you should complete the first two pages in the booklet - Drawing Shapes on a Coordinate Grid.
For language arts, remember to read every day and complete a reading log entry. I am also adding reading comprehension activities - read the passage and answer the questions or do the activity.
Sunday, March 22
Hi everyone,
I am currently doing some work in Knowledgehook (an online math tool) to get this set up for our class. Once I have login codes ready for everyone, I'll let you know. The activities we do in Knowledgehook will mostly mirror what I give in paper and digital format here on our blog.
Also, see this announcement from the Assiniboine Park Zoo:
While we’re closed, we’re bringing the Zoo to you! Join us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. for a LIVE Creature Feature on Facebook! We’ll be getting up close, introducing you to an animal here at the Zoo, and teaching you about animal enrichment, veterinary care, adaptations, and more! We’ll also be answering your questions LIVE!
For our first Creature Feature we’ll be meeting our charismatic meerkats and learning about animal enrichment. Join us this Monday, March 23 at 1:00 on Facebook Live. See the full schedule: https://bit.ly/3dmzfk7

Dear 6W families,
Inside the folder you pick up today, you will find learning resources for your child to use during their time away from school. Digital copies of these and additional resources are also available here on our class blog. This is also where you can find more specific instructions for some of these activities. Beginning March 23, students should check the blog frequently to check for guidelines about what work should be completed each day and any new resources that may be posted. If you have any questions, please encourage your child to email their subject-specific teacher (i.e. French – Mme May) directly from their [email protected] email account. All teachers’ school email addresses are available at the Linden Meadows School website under the “Contact Us” tab. Please remember that this is a novel experience for all of us and we may have to do some problem solving as issues arise. My email address is [email protected]. I wish you and your family well over the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Mr. Corey Wiebe
